The Sauna

The Oxmoor Farm ethos is built around a simple idea: nurture and nature. As part of that, heat, land and people.

We want to take things back to basics. Time spent in the heat, outside and with people is good for us.

Overlooking the farmland and surrounded by ancient woodland, The Sauna at Oxmoor Farm is designed to become part of your regular lifestyle, not just an occasional escape. Spend time in the heat, take in the centuries-old landscape, wander through the woodland, then head to The Barn to eat, drink and reconnect with your people.

Before Your Visit

Opening times
Community sessions run on Mondays and throughout the day Fridays–Sunday. Live session times are shown when booking.

Arrival
Please arrive 10 minutes before your session to park, check in and get changed. Sessions start and finish promptly, so arriving late will reduce the amount of time you have in the sauna.

Finding us
Head to Oxmoor Farm and follow signs for the sauna. You’ll find us behind the courtyard, neighbouring our open field. Parking is available at the farm.

Changing & showers
A mixed changing room is available next to the sauna. There is also a cold-water shower attached to the sauna. Please shower before entering either of the ice baths.

Towels
We provide a small towel for each guest, but we advise bringing your own towel as well.

Drinking water
Drinking water is available, but please bring a reusable water bottle and keep hydrated throughout your visit.

What to wear
Swimwear should be worn during all community sessions. Please bring footwear such as sliders or flip-flops for moving around outside.

Inside the sauna
Always sit on a towel. Please only use the water provided on the sauna stones and don’t add essential oils, fragrances or other products.

Children
Our community sessions are 16+.

Accessibility
If you have particular accessibility requirements, please contact us before booking and we’ll explain the setup and access as clearly as possible. The sauna is currently not wheelchair accessible.

Sauna Etiquette

Sauna is simple. A few things help keep it enjoyable for everyone.

Sit on a towel
Please bring a towel to sit on inside the sauna, keeping your whole body off the timber where possible.

Shower before you plunge
There’s a cold-water shower beside the sauna. Please use it before entering the ice baths — particularly after a round in the heat.

Share the heat
Our community sessions are shared between up to seven people. Be mindful of the space around you and make room for others coming and going.

Ask before adding water
A little water on the stones changes the heat for everyone. Check with the rest of the sauna before adding it, and only use the water provided.

Conversation is welcome. Silence is too.
Some people come to chat, others come for an hour of quiet. Read the room and let everyone enjoy the sauna in their own way.

Phones away
We recommend leaving your phone outside. If you do take a photo, please make sure nobody else is in it without their permission.

Keep the cold moving
Our ice baths are shared too. Take your time, but be mindful of others waiting to use them.

Swimwear stays on
Swimwear should be worn throughout community sessions and around the sauna area.

No food or alcohol
Keep food outside the sauna area and save the drinks for afterwards. Anyone under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs won’t be able to use the sauna or ice baths.

Listen to your body
There’s no competition here. Step out when you’re hot, skip the ice bath if you don’t fancy it and take as much time outside as you need.

Leave it as you found it
We’re lucky to have the sauna sitting within the farm and landscape. Please take your belongings and rubbish with you and help us look after the space.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Oxmoor Sauna is our wood-fired sauna and cold-water experience at the farm.

Built by Wildhut, the sauna seats up to seven people and looks out across the farm through a full-width panoramic window. Outside, you’ll find two ice baths and a cold-water shower.

It’s deliberately simple: heat, cold, fresh air and the landscape around you.

Each session lasts one hour, giving you time to move between the sauna, fresh air and ice baths at your own pace.

If you’re new to sauna, start with around 5–10 minutes in the heat, step outside to cool down and use the ice bath if you fancy it. Rest, repeat and listen to your body — there’s no set formula.

Bring swimwear, a reusable water bottle and sliders or flip-flops. We provide a small towel for each guest, but we advise bringing your own towel as well.

You’ll need one towel to sit on inside the sauna and another to dry yourself afterwards. A robe or changing robe is useful, particularly during the colder months.

Please remove jewellery before entering the sauna as metal can become hot.

Usually, yes. Our community sessions are a shared experience, with up to seven people in the sauna.

Come with friends or come on your own — both are completely normal. We want it to feel naturally communal rather than forced. Have a chat if you fancy it or simply sit back and enjoy the view.

Absolutely. Solo bookings are very welcome and are a big part of what our community sessions are about.

Not at all.

They’re there if you want them, but there’s no requirement to plunge. You can simply step outside and cool down naturally between sauna rounds.

If you’re new to cold exposure, take it slowly and listen to your body.

Yes. There is a mixed changing room next to the sauna and a cold-water shower attached to the sauna.

We ask everyone to shower before entering the ice baths.

There are no hot showers — embrace the cold.

Yes. Private hire is £125 per session and gives your group exclusive use of the sauna for the hour.

The sauna accommodates up to seven people, making private sessions particularly good for groups, birthdays or simply having the space to yourselves.

Yes. The sauna is part of Oxmoor Farm rather than a standalone spa.
Our restaurant is open Thursday to Sunday, so where timings line up you can make a bit more of your visit — sauna followed by coffee, breakfast or lunch at the farm.

Restaurant opening times vary, so please check before visiting.

We sauna in pretty much all weather.

In fact, cold, wet and frosty days are often some of the best times to use it. Bring something warm and waterproof for before and afterwards.

We’ll only cancel a session where conditions make it unsafe to operate.

Yes — that’s very much the idea.

The experience changes with the seasons, from cold winter mornings and dark evening sessions to long summer days overlooking the farm.

For us, sauna isn’t really a seasonal treatment. It’s a regular ritual built around Heat, Land and People.
